What is Ares?

What is Ares? Ares is a very nifty little software application that lets you share files – specifically music files – across the Internet. You can go online and do a search for any of your favorite music files – Wu Tang Clan, for example – and up will pop a number of ‘torrents’ that match your query. These ‘torrents’ are groups of people that are sharing the file (or bits of the file) that you want. Ares then connects you to these people’s computers and grabs the bits of the file that you need.

Depending on the popularity of the file you might find that a certain song takes a few days to download (this is especially the case if you’ve got a lot of files downloading all at the same time). If you disconnect or turn off your computer then Ares knows exactly what to do and carries on where you left off.

Filesharing has gained a bit of a bad reputation lately with the media and with some of the publishing companies, but more and more publishers and artists are realizing that any attempt to stop filesharing is futile. Filesharing is the future.

Download Ares, a wonderful piece of software and it really will make your filesharing experience an enjoyable one.
